Guidelines for using, ordering and registering cases

The database of the European Case Clearing House (ECCH) contains the case collections of leading international business schools as well as those of smaller schools and cases registered by individual authors. Everyone can search the ECCH database. When you have registered, you can view inspection copies and order cases.
Using cases
Cases are protected by copyright. Each time a case is being used you must pay for the copyrights per student. The library can order cases (pay copyright fees) at ECCH on account.

Ordering cases
You can either order cases (pay copyright fees) yourself, or you can ask the library to do so. You are kindly requested to hand in your request at the library 10 days in advance. For many cases you can also order the teaching notes.
The library needs the following information, to order your case:
  • Case title and number
  • Course name and dates
  • Number of students involved
  • Name of professor
  • Program name and year
  • Executive/degree
  • Budget number
  • Your name
  • Delivery: internal mail/pick up at the library
  • Approval of the budgeteer (by email)

Delivery
The library orders master copies of cases. You will receive one printed copy, to be photocopied at the Repro. Usually cases are delivered as sealed pdf (delivery time: about 1 day). Exceptionally cases are delivered by postal mail (delivery time: about 11 days). Delivery by courier will take about 3-4 days.

Please note
  • 1-5 copies will be delivered as inspection copies
  • Revised editions:
According to ECCH regulations only the most recent edition of a case may be used.
  • Color:
If a case contains colors, only printed copies can be delivered. The ECCH will photocopy the case for you. This procedure involves extra photocopying and delivery costs.

Registering your case with ECCH
As an author you can register your case with the European Case Clearing House (ECCH). Details and an abstract will be included in the ECCH database. ECCH will undertake worldwide distribution of your case. Nyenrode Business Universiteit will receive royalties on sales of multiple copies.
Annually the European Case Awards are presented to authors of the cases that have achieved the highest and most consistent growth in popularity worldwide.
